ThermoFab has announced the acquisition of key Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) assets from Mearthane Products Corporation. All RIM production will now be carried out at ThermoFab’s USMCA-compliant facility in Mexicali, enabling fast, tariff-free delivery across North America.
This strategic acquisition significantly enhances ThermoFab’s RIM molding capabilities, increasing production efficiency and expanding the company’s ability to manufacture complex, high-performance enclosures.
The newly acquired equipment includes custom-built hydraulic down-stroke presses capable of producing components ranging from 36” x 48” to 60” x 78” with pressures up to 8,000 PSI. These presses are outfitted with PLC controls, precision mixing heads, and advanced hydraulic systems, allowing for the production of lightweight, durable, and impact-resistant parts with exceptional detail.
Additionally, the acquisition includes advanced RIM dispensing systems featuring dual pressurized tank assemblies, high-performance temperature controllers, and integrated mixing technologies. These systems enhance material consistency, reduce cycle times, and support a wide range of polyurethane formulations—from high-impact structural foams to elastomers—ideal for applications in the medical, industrial, and defense sectors.
This acquisition strengthens our ability to meet growing customer demand for high-quality reaction injection molded components. By integrating these assets into our Mexicali facility, we can provide cost-effective nearshore manufacturing solutions with enhanced capabilities and faster turnaround times. All RIM components produced in Mexicali are fully USMCA-compliant and exempt from tariffs, offering a significant advantage for North American customers.
