BEWI Opens New Circular Hub in Sweden, Boosting EPS Recycling Capacity

ial

BEWI, a pioneer in sustainable packaging, components, and insulation solutions, has launched its new circular hub in Norrköping, Sweden, significantly enhancing its EPS (expanded polystyrene) recycling capacity by 40%. The company aims to boost the collection and use of recycled EPS in its product line to meet customer demands for more circular solutions and international targets for recycled content.

“We are proud to present our new, state-of-the art recycling facility here in Norrköping. We are well positioned to meet the growing demand for products with recycled content, driven by both the market and legislations”, says Aljosa Krizman, EVP and Head of BEWI’s Circular segment.

The circular hub is a transformed version of BEWI's former insulation facility in Norrköping, equipped with cutting-edge recycling extrusion technology and offering potential for future expansion. Strategically located in Norrköping, the facility enables efficient transportation to and from customers and BEWI's facilities, such as the extruder for recycled polystyrene in the Netherlands, which creates new EPS raw material. Additionally, the circular hub not only provides recycled feedstock to external customers but also facilitates the use of recycled material in BEWI's downstream business units, increasing the offering of solutions with reduced CO2 footprint.
