IFF has announced a 47,000-square-foot expansion of its Cedar Rapids, Iowa facility to strengthen its position in the growing healthy snacks market in the U.S. and worldwide. The nearly $70 million investment is expected to create up to 40 new jobs when fully operational in late 2026.
“Our Cedar Rapids plant will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies, allowing us to provide U.S.-made TAURA by IFF fruit ingredients that can be easily integrated into food manufacturing processes,” said Andy Muller, president of Food Ingredients. “Additionally, sustainability is at the forefront of this project, aligning with our commitment to Do More Good.”
IFF has over 30 years of experience in this technology, and the expansion will provide a competitive advantage. The facility will include advanced automation, modern packaging, and ergonomic designs. Its location will improve supply chain efficiency for U.S. customers. The project also focuses on sustainability, featuring energy-saving heat recovery systems, reduced water and energy use, and reusable raw material handling methods.
“The expansion project at Cedar Rapids represents the first US IFF facility to focus on TAURA by IFF ingredients,” said Muller. “TAURA’s clean-label fruit and vegetable pieces and pastes provide manufacturers with versatile formats for creating differentiated products with natural appeal.”
TAURA ingredients allow manufacturers to add real fruit to long shelf-life foods like snacks, chocolates, cereals, and baked goods. Using advanced technology, moisture is removed while preserving the fruit’s integrity. IFF currently produces TAURA ingredients in Belgium and New Zealand.
This expansion will build on the existing Cedar Rapids plant, which already makes enzymes for food, household and personal care products, animal nutrition, and biofuels. IFF currently employs over 200 workers at this site.
