dsm-firmenich has expanded its global pet nutrition operations with the opening of NextGen Itatiba, a dedicated pet nutrition premix facility located in Itatiba, São Paulo, Brazil. Developed in partnership with Globalfood, the new site will focus exclusively on the production of vitamin and mineral premixes for cats and dogs and will serve as the company’s primary manufacturing and supply hub for pet nutrition across South America.

Strategically located around 100 kilometres from São Paulo city, the facility benefits from strong regional infrastructure and distribution networks, enabling faster response times and improved service for pet food manufacturers throughout the continent. The investment forms part of dsm-firmenich’s broader strategy to strengthen its specialised global network of pet-dedicated premix facilities following previous expansions in North America and Europe.

The company stated that the Itatiba site has been designed with food-grade manufacturing standards and species-specific production capabilities to support the growing demand for premium, customised and functional pet nutrition products. Sustainability initiatives have also been incorporated into the project, including the use of solar energy systems, water reuse measures and reforestation programmes.

According to dsm-firmenich, the new facility will support innovation, flexibility and enhanced supply reliability in one of the world’s fastest-growing pet food markets.

The company added that the expansion reflects its long-term strategic commitment to pet nutrition as a key growth segment supported by advanced formulation science, customised premix solutions and a global innovation pipeline aimed at improving pet health and wellbeing.
