Henkel has launched Loctite STYCAST US 8000 A/B, a next-generation two-component polyurethane potting compound designed to enhance the reliability and service life of industrial and power electronics operating in harsh environments. As manufacturers face growing pressure to ensure stable performance under sustained heat, humidity, vibration and corrosive conditions, the new solution addresses critical risks such as corrosion, silver migration, insulation breakdown and premature component failure across applications including motor controls, inverters, power supplies, battery management systems, HVAC modules and industrial sensors.
The new potting material features ultra-low ionic content below 20 ppm, significantly reducing the risk of corrosion and silver migration in high-humidity environments. It carries a UL 746 RTI rating of 140°C and UL 94 V-0 flammability certification, offering proven thermal endurance and safety. Electrically, it delivers a dielectric strength of 24 kV/mm and maintains surface insulation resistance above 10⁸ ohms after prolonged exposure to 85°C and 85% relative humidity, ensuring long-term insulation stability under severe operating stress.
Loctite STYCAST US 8000 A/B is formulated for efficient manufacturing, with low mixed viscosity and a standard 4:1 mixing ratio to enable smooth dispensing, excellent flow into complex geometries and void-free encapsulation. It can cure at room temperature or through accelerated heat schedules, offering process flexibility and lower energy consumption. Mechanically, it combines strength and flexibility to absorb vibration and thermal expansion without cracking or losing adhesion.
Henkel says the launch strengthens its portfolio of high-performance encapsulation materials and reflects its commitment to supporting the next generation of reliable, energy-efficient electronic systems through close collaboration with OEMs and tier suppliers.
