On March 5, Huntsman Corporation announced that recent developments in the Middle East have caused a sharp increase in European natural gas prices, significantly raising the cost of producing MDI.
While the company is exploring measures to reduce the impact of these higher costs, it indicated that it cannot fully absorb them. Consequently, Huntsman will introduce a natural gas surcharge of EUR 200 per ton on all MDI products sold across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India (EAMEI).
The surcharge will be implemented immediately where permitted under existing contract terms and will be applied in addition to previously announced MDI prices.
Huntsman also stated that the surcharge level may be revised depending on how the situation in the Middle East evolves.
