Henkel and Sasol have partnered to reduce the environmental impact of hot melt adhesives. The integration of Sasol’s low-carbon SASOLWAX LC range into Henkel’s TECHNOMELT portfolio, which includes PU-based adhesives, supports more sustainable packaging solutions across Europe, India, the Middle East, and Africa.
SASOLWAX LC100, developed using Sasol’s enhanced Fischer-Tropsch process, offers a 35% reduction in cradle-to-gate Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) compared to standard formulations, without compromising performance. As a drop-in replacement in Henkel’s existing adhesive formulas, it allows for easy integration into production lines while supporting Henkel’s goal to cut absolute scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 (base year 2021).
The partnership underscores both companies’ alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative and their commitment to credible sustainability practices. The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) methodology used across the entire SASOLWAX value chain is rigorously developed and independently verified, meeting ISO 14040, 14044, and 14067 standards to ensure transparency and reliability in environmental claims.
This partnership exemplifies how innovation in material science can enable measurable benefits for our customers. As demand grows for more sustainable consumer goods, our collaboration with Sasol allows brands to achieve their environmental goals without trade-offs in quality or performance. Together, we are enabling smarter, more responsible choices across the value chain.
TECHNOMELT® adhesives are used in packaging, hygiene, and personal care products. With SASOLWAX LC100, Henkel boosts material-level sustainability, helping brands meet climate goals and enhance supply chain transparency.
The partnership also explores renewable and recycled inputs, driven by Sasol’s flexible synthesis and joint innovation efforts.
