Dow has announced that it will produce VORANOL™ WK5750, an advanced polyether polyol, at its Freeport polyol plant, reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering high-performance solutions for the flexible foam industry. Designed to enable the production of soft and hypersoft foams, VORANOL™ WK5750 is positioned to significantly enhance comfort levels in end-use products such as mattresses and furniture.
The product’s distinctive molecular design allows it to function as a powerful cell opener, extending its applicability to viscoelastic and high-resiliency foam formulations while achieving exceptional softness without compromising resilience.
Commenting on the development, Kevin Meyer, Associate Technical Service & Development Director at Dow, stated that producing VORANOLâ„¢ WK5750 at the Freeport facility will allow Dow to better support customers seeking advanced solutions for viscoelastic and hypersoft foam applications, while continuing to push the boundaries of comfort and performance in flexible foam technologies.
As a key enabler for specialty slabstock flexible foam applications, VORANOL™ WK5750 offers enhanced reactivity, supporting improved cross-linking across a wide range of formulations and contributing to consistent foam performance. Its optimal viscosity range of 1,000–1,500 cSt at 25 °C ensures a balance between ease of processing and high-quality output, making it suitable for demanding manufacturing environments.
The polyol also meets stringent quality benchmarks, with a maximum water content of 0.06 wt% and a colour specification capped at 50 APHA, helping manufacturers maintain both performance integrity and visual appeal in finished products.
