Perstorp Polyols Permanently Discontinues Production at Toledo, Ohio Facility
Perstorp Polyols, Inc. has permanently discontinued production operations at its manufacturing facility in Toledo, Ohio, effective September 2, as part of a strategic restructuring of its North American manufacturing footprint. The decision follows a comprehensive assessment of Perstorp’s global production network and is intended to consolidate manufacturing activities across fewer, strategically positioned facilities to create a more efficient and effective manufacturing network.
Despite the Toledo plant closure, the North American market remains a strategic priority for Perstorp as the company continues its ambition to strengthen its position as a global leader in specialty chemicals. The discontinuation of production is not expected to affect Perstorp’s sales, customer service, planning or distribution operations in the United States, allowing the company to maintain reliable product supply, high service levels and quality standards for customers and partners across the region.
The manufacturing consolidation is designed to support operational efficiency while ensuring continued supply to customers in the U.S. and other international markets. The closure will impact approximately 70% of Perstorp’s U.S. employees, with the company stating that it will provide support to affected employees throughout the transition in a safe, respectful and responsible manner.
The Toledo facility’s production discontinuation represents a significant development for Perstorp’s specialty chemicals manufacturing network and reflects the broader industry focus on optimising production capacity, improving manufacturing efficiency and strategically positioning assets to support long-term competitiveness and customer supply reliability in the U.S. specialty chemicals market.
