Rampf Eco Solutions plans to expand its recycled polyol reactor in Pirmasens

In Pirmasens, Germany, Rampf Eco Solutions intends to build a new recycled polyol production facility featuring a 23-ton reactor. Two industrial-scale vessels currently in use, one with a capacity of five tonnes and the other of eight tonnes, will be upgraded with the plant. Director of sales and marketing for the company Marco Werth anticipates it will be up and running by 2026.

Following a year-long consultation process, regulatory permissions have been granted. The company is building the new reactor in response to growing demand for its recycled polyols. It will be supplied by leftover rigid polyurethane foam and equipped with automated mechanisms that will lower the speed of the conveyor and initiate heating when the temperature falls.

Water content and other critical values will be checked in-line without removing samples for additional analysis. With partners like Repsol in Spain and TSSC, a manufacturer of insulation, in Dubai, Rampf Eco Solutions has also constructed plants utilising its polyol recycling technology throughout the world.

Werth said the main customers for the recycled polyols are systems houses, and for them consistency of product is important. “I cannot send them a polyol like this one day, and then one like that the next day,” he said. “That will not work. If they are having to tweak their polyurethane recipe every time, using recycled polyols won’t happen.”

The new reactor is being built in response to growing demand for the company’s recycled polyols. “We can’t make enough!” Werth said. “Customers are now asking for tank loads, not just IBCs.”
