The government previously provided a complete Customs Duty exemption on imports of key petrochemical products until June 30, 2026, as a temporary and targeted relief in response to the crisis in West Asia and the resulting disruptions in global supply chains.
The exemption was granted to ensure enough supply of petrochemicals in the domestic market, as Indian petroleum companies were instructed to focus on LPG production during this time. As the situation increasingly normalises, it has been decided to extend the exemption for an additional 15 days, until July 15, 2026, to facilitate a seamless and non-disruptive transition for the impacted industries. The list of products covered stays the same as previously stated.
The government is still dedicated to assisting India's industrial sector. As before, the exemption is expected to assist a wide range of industries that rely on petrochemical feedstock and intermediates, such as plastics, packaging, textiles, medicines, chemicals, automotive components, and other manufacturing segments. This will also benefit purchasers of finished items.
