IFF, a global leader in food and beverage, home and personal care, smell, and health, stated that it plans to finish renovating and expanding its facilities in Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Business Park, Shanghai, China. The website will be completely operational by the end of August 2024. The "Shanghai Creative Center," a 16,000-square-meter facility, is IFF's largest in Asia. The project aims to promote the development of innovative solutions throughout the IFF portfolio in China and the Greater Asia market, extending the company's global leadership in perfumes, flavors, functional ingredients, and bioscience-based portfolios.
The Shanghai Creative Center will bring together capabilities across IFF, all in one location, enabling us to improve our delivery of end-to-end solutions for customers in Asia and around the world,” said Erik Fyrwald, IFF chief executive officer. “This was a natural next step following the opening of our Singapore Innovation Center in 2022 and reaffirms our dedication to advancing innovation in Asia.
IFF originally entered the Chinese market in 1981, becoming the fragrance and flavor industry's first multinational to establish a presence and open a factory. The newly redesigned site demonstrates the importance of the Asia area to IFF globally. China is currently one of the most important markets for tastes and fragrances, with significant growth potential. Furthermore, the region's demand for bioscience-based products is constantly expanding as customers seek more options for longer life and healthier lifestyles. IFF's extensive knowledge and experience in these industries, together with its investment in the innovation center, enables the company to bring innovative goods to market swiftly and effectively, supporting its customers' brand growth objectives in China.
The Shanghai Creative Center, which was designed with collaboration and co-creation in mind, is poised to become a hub for technological synergy and sensory discovery. The buildings will contain an open-office layout, a sensory research center, a Scent creative center, and cutting-edge labs for invention, design, and product analysis, creating a collaborative environment among all technical specialties. The site's gourmet demo kitchen and pioneering instant noodle pilot line demonstrate its commitment to culinary innovation. The center also includes an exclusive fine fragrance section dedicated to the art of perfumery, as well as a ground-breaking 360° digital environment that provides an immersive olfactory experience that connects the physical and digital worlds, paving the way for live-streaming educational courses.
