ENGEL AUSTRIA GmbH has enlarged its technical center in St. Valentin, Austria, by adding one of its standard portfolio's biggest injection molding machines, the dual 5500 combi M. With a clamping force of 55,000 kN, it is the world's biggest technical center machine, measuring 32 meters long, 13 meters broad, 6.8 meters tall, and weighing 545 tons. ENGEL intends to utilize this machine to allow technologies and components in whole new dimensions in partnership with its customers and partners. The extra-large mold chamber can hold molds weighing up to 150 tons, with shot weights of up to 42 kg.
This cutting-edge machine was designed to fulfill the needs of the automobile sector and technical injection molding, and it is currently ready for client trials.
Large plastic components have traditionally been created using procedures other than injection molding, which have major constraints. With the availability of a big injection molding machine such as the dual 5500 combi M at a technological center, there are now several opportunities for component and technology development and sampling. This solution maintains ENGEL's position as a new technology enabler, enabling customers and partners to actively seek new dimensions of development and enhance injection molding capabilities.
With the launch of the dual 5500 combi M, ENGEL's technological center underlines its position as a leading hub for testing innovative technologies and working closely with the industry to develop new injection molding opportunities. The machine enables the testing and development of current and new client projects in real-world scenarios and on neutral ground. This covers tool and material testing, as well as the development of new production technology.
