Coca-Cola Consolidated has called Sandston home for nearly a decade, employing almost 450 residents across various roles such as manufacturing, warehouse management, distribution, equipment services, and transportation through the Red Classic Truck fleet. On March 25, the company unveiled its new state-of-the-art building with Governor Glenn Youngkin and other elected officials in attendance, marking a significant milestone in the region's economic development.
The new facility, part of a $50 million expansion project, includes a 210,000-square-foot warehouse equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting and new machinery to enhance efficiency on the can line. These upgrades reflect Coca-Cola Consolidated's commitment to sustainability, echoing their "Refresh, Recycle, Renew" initiative.
The Sandston site expansion is poised to enhance customer service and create new job opportunities, fostering skill development and career advancement for current and future employees. The investment will also help Coca-Cola Consolidated meet rising customer demand and expand its product offerings, including new flavors like Coke Spice. The addition of new can lines will enable the facility to produce more cases at a faster rate, solidifying its role as a key player in the region.
The Sandston campus is one of eight Coca-Cola Consolidated facilities in the area, underscoring the company's focus on significant infrastructure advancements to support its continued growth.
