CANNON Viking will showcase its new LayDown VariMaster system, a patented solution for continuous slabstock foam block production, at Hall 13, booth B27. The LayDown VariMaster enables real-time adjustments to foam grades without interrupting production, offering unmatched flexibility for specialty foam formulations such as MDI, viscoelastic, and high-resilient foams.
The system allows on-the-fly output adjustments to maintain uninterrupted production runs. Its full-width distribution of the mixed chemical formulation across the pour plate ensures consistent block shape and foam cell structure while minimizing density variations. By combining the advantages of trough and liquid laydown methods, the LayDown VariMaster provides an all-in-one solution for specialty foam production. Its simple design, easy maintenance, and minimal spare parts contribute to a durable build and extended operational lifespan.
After the global success of the CANNON Viking CarDio® Gatebar, which ensures precise and controlled foam expansion using CO 2 , we adapted this technology to improve chemical foam pouring for non-CO 2 foams. This led to the LayDown Master, a cutting-edge technology designed to ensure the even distribution of polyurethane foam across the width of the machine. This soon became one of the most sought-after CANNON Viking slabstock upgrades. Based on customer feedback, we then looked at ways to optimize the technology further, which led to the development of the LayDown VariMaster.
The LayDown VariMaster delivers several key advantages, including full-width foam pouring across the slabstock pour plate, ensuring optimal block shape and foam cell structure. It enables real-time, “on-the-fly” adjustments to foam grade formulations without interrupting production. Its adjustable distribution outlet accommodates variations in chemical output, viscosity, and filler content, reducing downtime for set-ups and changeovers, improving yield, and enhancing overall slabstock line efficiency.
The system will be available globally from early 2026 for both new and existing continuous slabstock plants and can even be retrofitted to non-CANNON Viking machines. For retrofits, CANNON Viking collaborates with customers to determine the most suitable installation and configuration for their equipment.
