W.R. Meadows has announced the acquisition of Alcot Plastics Ltd., a Canada-based manufacturer of extruded polyethylene foam products, as part of its strategy to expand its construction materials portfolio and strengthen manufacturing capabilities across North America. The acquisition marks a significant step in W. R. Meadows’ long-term growth plans and reinforces its position in the concrete construction and building materials industry.
Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Alcot Plastics has developed a strong reputation for advanced foam extrusion technologies and customised foam solutions. The company manufactures a range of products including backer rods, expansion joint fillers, foam sheets, screening spline, pool noodles and specialty foam products used in packaging, insulation and construction applications. Its proprietary single-screw extrusion technology is recognised for improving production efficiency, enabling shorter start-up times and supporting smaller, customised production runs.
Under the agreement, Alcot Plastics will continue operating under its existing name and management structure as an independent business unit, while all employees will remain in their current roles. W. R. Meadows stated that maintaining operational continuity will help preserve customer relationships and ensure a seamless transition for existing clients.
The acquisition is expected to broaden W. R. Meadows’ expertise in foam technologies, particularly in expansion joint fillers and backer rod materials used in concrete construction projects. The company also anticipates synergies in manufacturing, innovation and product development, enabling enhanced service capabilities and expanded product offerings for customers throughout North America.
