Vita has expanded its portfolio to include a new polyurethane foam designed for the aviation industry. Graflyte is a graphite foam that is both lightweight and melamine-free. It has been designed to provide aviation applications with safe, low-impact seating materials. The foam is available in blocks, sheets, rolls and moulded formats. As per the company, it integrates advanced fire-resistant performance within the foam, removing the need for a separate fire-blocking layer.
Graflyte seat cushions offer three main advantages: they exhibit robust fire performance, maintaining flame integrity even if damaged; achieve weight reduction by omitting traditional fire-blocking layers; and improve environmental impact by reducing material use and lowering life cycle assessment (LCA) impact.
“With its combination of safety, weight efficiency and reduced environmental impact, Graflyte represents a significant advancement for aviation seating and a major step forward in our ongoing development of high-performance engineered foam solutions,” Vita said.
