Symrise Strengthens Food & Beverage Operations in Barcelona

Symrise has strengthened its Food & Beverage capabilities in Southern Europe through the expansion and modernisation of its site in Parets del Vallès near Barcelona, reinforcing its regional presence and improving service proximity for customers across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
Officially inaugurated on 22 April 2026, the upgraded facility significantly increases production capacity for powdered food and beverage solutions while enhancing application expertise and technical support capabilities. The investment includes a new large-scale mixing plant designed to improve efficiency, flexibility and safety for products used in culinary applications, snacks, dry beverages and sweet formulations. Symrise has also modernised its development, application and quality laboratories to accelerate product prototyping, testing and optimisation, enabling customers to shorten development cycles and speed up commercialisation. Dedicated application laboratories for ready meals and processed meat products further strengthen local technical support and sensory optimisation services.
According to the company, Southern Europe continues to emerge as a major innovation hub for the food and beverage industry, with Spain acting as an important connection point between European, African and Middle Eastern markets.
The upgraded Barcelona facility is intended to bring development, testing and production closer together, allowing faster scale-up and more responsive customer collaboration.
Sustainability also forms a central part of the project, with the site incorporating solar panels and a water reuse system to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency. Symrise stated that the expanded infrastructure additionally provides opportunities for future growth and job creation, underlining the company’s long-term commitment to the Iberian market and adjacent regions.
