SIKA to Acquire Adhesive Business of Resonac Corporation

Sika will acquire the adhesives business of Resonac Corporation, a chemical company headquartered in Japan. The acquired business primarily serves automotive customers in Asia by developing, manufacturing, and selling a wide variety of adhesive technologies. Significant operational synergies and growth opportunities will be generated for Sika by the complementary customer base and manufacturing footprint.
The acquired business has a long history of developing innovative adhesives for industrial applications, particularly for the automotive industry, with a leading position in interior assembly bonding.
The business has built a strong reputation and established long-standing customer relationships throughout Asia, with sales organisations and manufacturing sites in Japan, China, and Taiwan.
The acquisition delivers significant benefits for Sika. It strengthens relationships with Japanese automotive OEMs and enhances global market access, while the complementary technology portfolio broadens solutions for automotive interiors and creates new growth opportunities.
Resonac’s adhesives business will gain from Sika’s global expertise, enriching its product range across automotive and industrial segments. The combined production footprint will establish a fully integrated and efficient manufacturing network across Asia-Pacific, generating cost synergies.
In addition, the acquired business’s presence in Taiwan provides a platform for growth in battery solutions and opens access to high-value market segments where Sika can expand its innovative offerings.
Philippe Jost, Sika Regional Manager Asia/Pacific: “This acquisition will strengthen our adhesives business in Asia and expand our ability to serve key customers with a broader range of innovative solutions. The strong alignment of technologies and customer relationships will create significant cross-selling opportunities, driving additional growth as well as efficiencies. We are looking forward to welcoming the new team to the Sika family and are excited to develop our business together in the future.”
The acquisition is expected to close in mid-2027.
