Saint-Gobain has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a glass fiber manufacturing plant in Lexington, North Carolina, USA. The facility, a long-time supplier to Saint-Gobain CertainTeed, produces high-quality glass fiber materials used in glass mat manufacturing a critical component for roofing shingles and advanced plasterboards, including the innovative Glasroc® X moisture-resistant reinforced plasterboard for exterior applications.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Saint-Gobain’s supply chain, enhance its competitiveness, and support its localized business strategy by bringing key value-added components in-house. Combined with the recent opening of its state-of-the-art glass mat plant in Oxford, North Carolina, the investment further reinforces the company’s leadership in light construction solutions across North America.
