ROCKWOOL has announced an agreement to acquire a stone wool insulation factory in Hungary from Ravago Building Solutions, strengthening its manufacturing presence in Central and Eastern Europe. The acquisition involves the Alsózsolca-based production facility in north-eastern Hungary, which has an annual production capacity of approximately 40,000 tonnes of stone wool insulation products.
The Danish insulation manufacturer stated that the acquisition aligns with its long-term strategy to expand regional manufacturing capabilities and enhance supply reliability for customers across Hungary, Romania and neighbouring European markets. The company expects the transaction to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
ROCKWOOL noted that the acquisition would further support growing demand for non-combustible and energy-efficient insulation materials across Europe, driven by stricter building efficiency standards, sustainability initiatives and renovation activities. The company has continued to invest in expanding its global production footprint, particularly in Europe and North America, to meet rising demand for stone wool insulation solutions.
The Hungarian facility is expected to strengthen ROCKWOOL’s regional supply chain while improving customer service and delivery efficiency in Central and Eastern Europe. Industry observers view the move as part of a broader consolidation trend within the insulation materials sector, where manufacturers are expanding localised production capabilities amid increasing emphasis on energy-efficient construction and fire-safe building materials.
