Puren Expands Purenit Production Capacity in Germany with €50 Million Investment

Puren GmbH has expanded its Purenit production facility in Obermarchtal, Germany, with an investment of approximately €50 million, commissioning a third manufacturing line that triples production capacity at the site and is expected to create up to 40 additional jobs.
The expansion strengthens Puren’s position in functional materials and sustainable construction products, particularly polyurethane (PU)-based materials and thermal insulation applications. The new production line is fully automated, incorporating digital process control and continuous quality monitoring, while photovoltaic systems supply a significant share of the facility’s electricity requirements.
Purenit, a moisture-resistant functional material, combines mechanical strength, thermal insulation, dimensional stability and resistance to chemicals and decay. It is manufactured using up to 90% recycled material residues, including by-products from Puren’s own rigid polyurethane foam production and waste from external customers.
The entire Purenit production process has received ISCC PLUS certification, enabling the future use of Covestro’s bio-circular binders. A product variant incorporating these binders is planned for 2027, supporting circular economy initiatives and sustainable building materials development.
