PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (PTTGC) has completed the restructuring of GC Polyols Company Limited (GCP) by acquiring the remaining 17.9% equity stake from Sanyo Chemical Industries, Ltd. (14.9%) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (3.0%), increasing its ownership from 82.1% to 100%.
The transaction, completed on 8 July 2026, aligns with PTTGC’s strategy to streamline operations and strengthen management flexibility amid prolonged weakness in the global polyols market. As part of the restructuring, GCP will temporarily mothball its polyols production facility while maintaining the plant in an operationally ready state for future market recovery.
The facility, located in Rayong, Thailand, has an annual production capacity of 180,000 tonnes, which includes 130,000 tonnes of polyether polyols, 30,000 tonnes of polymer polyols, and 20,000 tonnes of premixed polyols. It supplies polyurethane raw materials to the automotive, construction, household appliances, electrical and electronics, packaging, and footwear industries.
The restructuring reflects PTTGC’s focus on improving operational efficiency, optimizing its specialty chemicals portfolio, and positioning the business for long-term competitiveness as global supply-demand dynamics evolve.
