Pflaumer Brothers has unveiled TERACURE® HP 47, a next-generation aliphatic polyisocyanate crosslinking agent designed to elevate the performance of two-component (2K) waterborne polyurethane coatings across demanding sectors such as automotive, aerospace, construction, flooring, wood finishing, OEM production, and industrial applications.
The new hardener delivers durability and resistance levels traditionally associated with solvent-borne systems, while retaining the environmental and formulation benefits of waterborne chemistries. According to Pflaumer’s test results, TERACURE HP 47 offers exceptional mechanical strength, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and UV durability, making it suitable for high-gloss wood finishes, chemically resistant concrete floors, and robust exterior coatings for metal, composite and plastic substrates.
Brian Morris, the company’s sales development and marketing director, highlights its broad solvent compatibility and ability to produce flexible, tough, high-gloss coatings capable of withstanding harsh environments.
Pflaumer notes that increasing NCO:OH ratios above 1.0 boosts crosslink density, improving hardness, chemical resistance and overall toughness. The product also accommodates a wide range of formulation additives to optimise performance: catalysts can speed curing under variable temperature and humidity; wetting agents and dispersants enhance pigment stability and gloss; matting agents enable satin and low-gloss finishes; UV stabilisers extend outdoor durability; and co-solvents can fine-tune clarity and cure behaviour.
Combining performance, versatility and environmental advantages, TERACURE HP 47 is positioned as an advanced solution for next-generation waterborne polyurethane coating systems.
