PAYAN BERTRAND, the family-owned aromatic products and fragrance specialist founded in 1854, is embarking on a major new chapter with the construction of a dedicated industrial site for fragrance compounding in Le Plan-de-Grasse, scheduled to open at the end of 2026. Representing a €12 million investment, this state-of-the-art and sustainably designed facility reflects the company’s long-term ambitions and follows over fifteen years of land research in the Grasse region.
The project was finalised in 2024 with the acquisition of a strategically located 4,000 m² plot, supported by Sogefimur/Société Générale. Designed by Didier Becchetti Architectes, the new plant will encompass 2,800 m² of highly automated production space, uniting fragrance creation and evaluation teams with application and quality control laboratories under one roof. Dedicated entirely to fragrance manufacturing, the site will supply a wide range of sectors, including perfumery, cosmetics, personal care, hygiene, home fragrance, and various industrial applications.
Dominique Proal, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, emphasised that the expansion reinforces the company’s commitment to blending tradition and innovation while strengthening its presence in Grasse, the global cradle of perfumery.
By 2027, PAYAN BERTRAND will operate through two complementary Business Units: the new “Pacome” site focused on fragrance production, and the historic “1886” site, newly modernised and dedicated to natural aromatic ingredients for perfumery and flavour markets. This strategic transformation supports the company’s continued growth and preserves its identity as an independent, heritage-driven Grasse-based industry leader, equipped with modern industrial capabilities to meet evolving market demands.
