OxyChem Acquired by Berkshire Hathaway

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. has announced the successful completion of its $9.7 billion acquisition of OxyChem from Occidental Petroleum, subject to customary post-closing purchase price adjustments.

The transaction strengthens Berkshire Hathaway’s presence in the global chemicals sector, with OxyChem recognised as a leading producer of essential chemical products across the United States, Canada and Latin America. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, OxyChem ranks among the top three manufacturers in the US of polyvinyl chloride, chlor-alkali products, chlorinated organic chemicals and calcium chloride.

OxyChem’s products are integral to everyday life, supporting vital industries including water treatment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive production, personal hygiene, and both residential and commercial construction.
