dsm-firmenich, an innovation in nutrition, health, and beauty, said today that it has agreed to sell its yeast extract business to Lesaffre, a major global player in fermentation and microorganisms. Yeast Extracts is part of dsm-firmenich's Taste, Texture, and Health business area, which has an annual sales of approximately €120 million.
As part of its portfolio optimization, dsm-firmenich de-prioritized several business segments. The divestment from Yeast Extracts was the result of the strategic review process, which was disclosed on June 3.
As part of the arrangement, Lesaffre will supply yeast extracts to dsm-firmenich for its Savory division. Additionally, dsm-firmenich and Lesaffre will form a technical cooperation to create yeast extracts.
Following the completion of the transaction, dsm-firmenich will continue to supply Lesaffre with yeast extracts manufactured in Delft until the end of 2025, at which point production in Delft will cease. Lesaffre will ensure that Yeast Extracts customers receive uninterrupted supply while maintaining the same service standards and innovation support as before.
