Kumho Mitsui Chemicals Inc., an affiliate of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc., has started operations at its newly expanded methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) production facilities in Yeosu, Jeonnam, South Korea, under the leadership of CEO Park Chan-Koo. The facilities, operational since late September, include recycling systems to reuse manufacturing by-products as raw materials. This move is expected to improve cost efficiency, enhance raw material self-sufficiency, and significantly reduce wastewater emissions and greenhouse gases across the supply chain.
The expansion increases the company's MDI production capacity by 200,000 tons per year, raising total output to 610,000 tons annually.
