JACKON Insulation by BEWI Introduces JACKODUR® LIGNIN 300 Standard, a New Generation of Thermal Insulation Made from Lignin and Recycled Polystyrene

JACKON Insulation by BEWI has launched JACKODUR® LIGNIN 300 Standard, an innovative thermal insulation material that combines renewable lignin with recycled polystyrene, marking a significant step towards more sustainable construction solutions.

Designed to reduce reliance on fossil-based raw materials, JACKODUR® LIGNIN is manufactured exclusively from biopolymer lignin and recycled polystyrene. This resource-efficient composition delivers a substantially lower carbon footprint compared with conventional JACKODUR® products, while maintaining the high performance standards required in modern construction. The product's environmental credentials are independently verified through an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in accordance with EN 15804.

In addition to its sustainability benefits, JACKODUR® LIGNIN 300 Standard offers excellent technical performance. Available in thicknesses ranging from 50 mm to 200 mm, the insulation combines high compressive strength, low weight, durability and reliable thermal efficiency with a declared thermal conductivity of λD = 0.032 W/(m·K). The material is also fully recyclable when collected and separated by material type.

The new insulation board has been developed for a broad range of building applications. It is suitable for use beneath screeds, where its compressive stability and ability to support low construction heights provide a robust foundation for floor systems. It is also designed for cavity wall insulation in twin-leaf masonry, delivering long-term thermal performance and durability even in challenging weather conditions.

For roofing applications, JACKODUR® LIGNIN 300 Standard can be used as over-rafter insulation, helping to minimise thermal bridges and improve the energy efficiency of both new-build and renovation projects. The product is equally suited to internal insulation projects where external building façades cannot be altered, as well as external wall insulation systems behind cladding, including timber façades.
