INEOS Styrolution to Close Polystyrene Production in Wingles, France

INEOS Styrolution has announced its decision to permanently close its polystyrene (PS) production operations in Wingles, France, as part of a wider strategy to align its European footprint with evolving market conditions and strengthen long-term competitiveness.

The company will consolidate polystyrene production for its European customer base at its advanced Antwerp site in Belgium, which offers a strong strategic location near major suppliers and customers, as well as enhanced manufacturing capabilities and a more extensive product range. This consolidation aims to ensure more efficient, reliable and cost-effective supply across the region.

INEOS Styrolution has confirmed that all workforce-related measures will be carried out in accordance with French labour regulations, and the formal consultation process with the Works Council of INEOS Styrolution France SAS is already under way. Importantly, the planned shutdown of polystyrene production will not impact the site’s acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) operations, which will continue to run as normal in Wingles.
