IKO has officially broken ground on its new extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ontario, marking a significant milestone in the company's North American expansion strategy. The 67,000-square-foot facility, backed by an investment of more than US$45 million, will be IKO's first dedicated XPS insulation manufacturing plant and will strengthen its vertically integrated production network.
Once operational, the new facility is expected to increase the availability of high-performance XPS insulation for residential and commercial construction markets. XPS insulation is widely used for its superior thermal insulation, moisture resistance, compressive strength, and long-term durability, making it a preferred material for roofing, walls, foundations, and below-grade applications. The investment also complements IKO's existing polyISO insulation manufacturing operations in Ontario, Alberta, and Maryland, broadening its insulation product portfolio to address growing demand for energy-efficient building materials.
