Huntsman, a global leader in polyurethane-based resins for composite wood products, will showcase two new bio-based binders at LIGNA 2025 in May. Designed to reduce the carbon footprint of composite wood by up to 30%, these innovative resins incorporate up to 25% bio-based content, maintaining the same high quality and performance in the final panels.

Huntsman has introduced two new bio-based resins, I-BOND® PB BIO 1025 and I-BOND® OSB BIO 1025, for use in producing oriented strand board (OSB) and particleboard (PB). These resins align with the industry's sustainability goals by offering bio-based content solutions. Part of Huntsman’s broader I-BOND® range, these fast-curing, non-formaldehyde resins maintain the same quality and performance as standard I-BOND® products, enabling easy integration into existing manufacturing processes. The new resins help manufacturers meet panel emission standards while offering flexibility to switch materials based on specific needs.

At Huntsman we are always looking for innovative solutions that can help drive sustainability forward. With the launch of our bio-based resins for OSB and PB, we are helping panel producers maximize bio-based content in their boards – helping them to meet their sustainability ambitions without compromising the quality or performance of their products. These innovations are an essential step in helping the industry transition to more sustainable production methods and we look forward to discussing the benefits they can deliver with LIGNA attendees.

Huntsman’s new bio-based resins, I-BOND® PB BIO 1025 and I-BOND® OSB BIO 1025, offer a range of benefits for composite wood manufacturers. With bio-based content and optional mass-balanced MDI, these resins help reduce the carbon footprint while delivering high strength, durability, and moisture resistance for applications in furniture, construction, and more. They meet stringent emission standards, are formaldehyde-free, and contribute to a safer, cleaner work environment. Versatile and easy to integrate into existing processes, these resins are ideal for furniture, cabinetry, flooring, and interior panelling.
