Huntsman introduces new PU composites for automotives

Huntsman, a global chemical company, is set to unveil a new portfolio of composites based on polyurethane for the automotive sector at the upcoming JEC World show. These composites are specifically designed to support the transition towards electric vehicles.


According to Huntsman, these composites will assist automotive manufacturers and their tier suppliers in optimizing production processes, while also reducing environmental impact. They are expected to maximize the performance and lifetime of vehicle components as the industry moves towards cleaner and lighter vehicles.


One of the key offerings in the portfolio is the Rimline RSM system, which is a glass fiber-reinforced polyurethane composite technology developed for rear seat pan applications. This system enables compact, lightweight, and simplified design configurations. It is applied using reaction spray molding, making it suitable for creating complex geometrical shapes.
