HEWEI SEATING Unveils Innovative Anti-Fouling Coating Technology to Improve PU Seating Durability and Performance

As a recognised manufacturer of laboratory seating, HEWEI SEATING has further developed its in-house anti-fouling coating technology for polyurethane (PU) seating solutions. The latest enhancement introduces a more effective surface protection treatment that helps improve product longevity, cleanliness, and day-to-day maintenance. By creating an additional protective layer, the technology offers an alternative to traditional paint-film finishes, helping to minimise moisture absorption, resist staining, and reduce general surface deterioration.


PU integral skin seating is widely used across healthcare environments, laboratories, educational settings, industrial facilities, public transport systems, and commercial workplaces. Its popularity stems from its durability, comfort, and ergonomic design. As these seating products are often subjected to frequent use, regular cleaning, and demanding working conditions, reliable surface protection is essential for preserving both their appearance and long-term performance.


To overcome common issues such as moisture penetration, staining and surface wear, HEWEI SEATING has developed an enhanced coating system that adds a patented polymer-based antifouling layer of approximately 5 to 10 microns over the standard paint finish. The technology has also undergone SGS testing.


This additional coating forms a durable protective barrier that bonds closely to the polyurethane surface while maintaining the seat's appearance, texture and performance. It helps prevent moisture from reaching the underlying material during routine cleaning, reducing the risk of contamination and damage.

The coating also improves resistance to dirt, stains and everyday abrasion, making cleaning easier and helping to preserve the original appearance of the product. In addition, it enhances colour retention by protecting the painted surface from oxidation and environmental exposure that can lead to fading over time.
