Henkel, a global leader in adhesives, sealants, and coatings, has opened the Inspiration Center JundiaĆ. The 5,000-square-meter structure will be the new R&D headquarters for Adhesive Technologies in Latin America, costing around 38 million euros (approximately BRL 232.5 million). The concept builds on Henkel's advanced global innovation center methodology, which was introduced at the company's headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany, and Shanghai, China, and is intended to translate technological know-how into effective, sustainable innovations.
The new hub in Brazil aims to foster technological collaboration and innovation. "The Inspiration Center JundiaĆ reinforces our commitment to advancing innovation in the Latin America region by capturing the trends and needs of the region," says Mark Dorn, Executive Vice President of Adhesive Technologies, Henkel. "The facility will bring our offering to life for our customers while also enabling tight collaboration internally and outside. We are developing solutions that boost the region's competitiveness and establish new standards for the global industry by leveraging an ecosystem of professionals, cutting-edge technologies, and integrated infrastructure.
Sustainable Architecture and Technical Capability
The Inspiration Center JundiaĆ uses engineered wood in its administrative building, which is the largest commercial construction in the region. The facility is separated into two areas: the administration area, which can accommodate over 100 people daily, and the technical building, which houses over 20 modern laboratories.
The infrastructure is intended to accelerate innovation, with an emphasis on high-performance and sustainable solutions across multiple industry areas. "Our cutting-edge laboratories enhance our technical capabilities to a new level. By bringing together customers, suppliers, universities, and strategic partners, we are creating a collaborative hub capable of transforming challenges into opportunities and driving the sustainable economic growth that the future requires," says Nigel Fay, Henkel Adhesive Technologies' Corporate Vice President for Innovation and Chief Technology Officer.
Proximity to Latin American markets
The choice of Jundiaà as location underlines the strategic position of the Brazilian market for Henkel Adhesive Technologies in Latin America. André Baron, President of Henkel in Latin America, believes the investment demonstrates the company's long-term commitment to the region. "Latin America has unique conditions to play an increasingly influential role in the global economy, driven by abundant renewable energy, strong production capabilities, and deep technical talent." The Inspiration Center Jundiaà serves as a catalyst inside Brazil's vibrant industrial and academic core, which includes over 800 industries and recognised excellence in engineering and science. He adds that by combining agility with strategic vision and enhancing advanced technical competence through education and development, it accelerates innovation and increases the region's ability to create the future.
