Finnfoam Oy, a Finnish thermal insulation manufacturer, has acquired a German polyurethane (PU) recycling facility from Bosig Baukunststoffe, a subsidiary of Bosig GmbH, for a sum of €10 million. The facility that was acquired, which is situated in Elsterwerda, Germany, is dedicated to the recycling of polyurethane waste into insulation board blanks and frame profiles. To triple the plant's recycling capacity to 15,000 tonnes of PUR/PIR annually, Finnfoam intends to substantially enhance its recycling capabilities. The agreement also encompasses the potential for the recycling of polystyrene and PET.
The factory will invest over €2m in new equipment and machinery within a year, and at least the same amount more in the following years,” Finnfoam CEO Henri Nieminen said. “In addition, the factory has room to expand into other recycling operations of Finnfoam, which include recycling polystyrene and PET plastics into new products.”
