EUROPUR, the European association for flexible polyurethane foam producers, has officially launched PureLCA, an innovative software tool designed to conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) of flexible PU foam formulations. This turns out to be important in the polyurethane industry, as PureLCA is the first dedicated tool of its kind, enabling precise measurement of the environmental footprint of foam products.
Developed in close collaboration with industry experts and LCA specialists, PureLCA allows foam manufacturers to calculate key environmental metrics—including carbon footprint, energy use, and resource consumption—across various stages of a foam’s lifecycle. The tool adheres to strict European and international standards, ensuring credibility and comparability of results.
This initiative reflects EUROPUR’s broader commitment to sustainability and transparency. By equipping manufacturers with a standardized, scientifically sound approach to measure environmental impact, PureLCA supports the foam industry in achieving its climate targets and responding to increasing regulatory and market demands.
PureLCA is currently available to EUROPUR members, and training sessions will be organized to ensure smooth adoption and use of the tool. The association sees this as a cornerstone in accelerating sustainable transformation across the polyurethane foam value chain.
