DSM-Firmenich has launched “Connect: Future You,” an immersive fragrance sensorium experience at the ART:1 New Museum in Jakarta, Indonesia. The installation, a multi-sensory exploration into the future of fragrance, features a forest-inspired mixed media exhibit created in collaboration with Indonesian artist Yawara. Rather than trees, the artist envisions a forest made of batik — hand-dyed textiles suspended like foliage — evoking scent, emotion, and texture. DSM-Firmenich perfumer Alessandro Croce interpreted this vision through 22 original fragrances crafted using 100% upcycled ingredients, aiming to respond to, rather than replicate, the raw artistic expression. The experience offers a unique insight into evolving Indonesian consumer preferences and presents the fragrance collection in diverse applications, including eau de toilette, body wash, fabric conditioner, dishwashing products, and laundry detergent. Levenza Toh, vice president for regional consumer brands across Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea, highlighted the initiative as a bold investment into Southeast Asia’s fragrance market, starting with Indonesia, praised for its cultural depth and commercial potential. Veronique Sue, head of fine fragrance experience, Asia, noted the event as a strategic milestone, underscoring DSM-Firmenich’s commitment to co-create with local partners and brands through innovation and olfactive storytelling.
