DSM-Firmenich Breaks Ground on High-Tech Flavor Facility in Italy to Boost Global Capacity

DSM-Firmenich, a global leader in nutrition, health, and beauty innovation, has begun construction of a new state-of-the-art production facility in Parma, Italy. Scheduled for completion in Q1 2027, the facility will significantly enhance the company's capabilities in concentrated powder flavors, reaction flavors, culinary blends, and functional blends, while generating over 100 new jobs.

The plant marks a strategic milestone in the company’s Taste, Texture & Health (TTH) business unit, aligning with efforts to boost flavor capacity and implement sustainable, next-generation technologies for high-growth markets such as sweet and savory foods. The site will feature advanced encapsulation technology for processing liquid flavors into dry blends, fully automated packaging lines, and a modern warehouse with sampling and quality control labs.

“This investment showcases our proactive approach in anticipating market demands,” said Maurizio Clementi, EVP, Taste at DSM-Firmenich.
“We’re increasing capacity and investing in sustainable technologies to better serve dynamic markets like Europe, India, and the Middle East.”

Located in the heart of Italy’s “Parma Food Valley,” the new facility is close to Campus Italy, fostering collaboration in flavor and food ingredient innovation. “Parma offers access to top industry talent and leading academic institutions, making it an ideal location,” added Albert Plans, SVP, Operations.
