Covestro Opens Advanced Production Facility in India

Covestro has inaugurated a cutting-edge production facility for Desmodur aliphatic isocyanates at its site in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, aiming to strengthen its global supply chain. The facility is set to manufacture a full range of these products by the fourth quarter of 2024.

Desmodur trimers are key hardeners used in polyurethane (PU) coating systems and adhesives, providing durability and resistance to UV light, chemicals, and abrasion. They are widely applied in industries like automotive, construction, wooden furniture, and consumer electronics.

“We are continuously investing in production capabilities in Asia to fortify our leading position in the aliphatic isocyanates business and provide high-quality products to our customers wherever they operate in the region,” said Thomas Roemer, Covestro’s global head of coatings & adhesives.

This expansion aligns with Covestro India’s commitment to the "Make in India" initiative, focusing on local manufacturing, job creation, and technology transfer.
