Circ Partners with Huafon to Develop Textile-to-Textile Recycling Facility in China
Circ, a US-based textile recycling technology company, has partnered with China’s Huafon Group to develop a multi-phase textile-to-textile recycling facility in China, strengthening its efforts to scale circular textile production globally.
Announced on 8 October 2026, the project will use Circ’s proprietary recycling technology to process polycotton textile waste and recover purified terephthalic acid (PTA), monoethylene glycol (MEG) and cellulosic pulp for reuse in new textiles. The first phase is designed to process approximately 200 metric tonnes of textile waste per day, with additional capacity planned in subsequent phases.
Huafon will invest directly in the project alongside Circ and other selected investors, contributing its manufacturing infrastructure, engineering, procurement, logistics and commercial expertise. Circ will provide its recycling technology and established network of global brands, textile manufacturers and downstream customers to support the adoption of recycled materials. The partnership aims to address the challenge of recycling polyester-cotton blended fabrics, which are difficult to process through conventional textile recycling methods.
By recovering both polyester-derived chemical building blocks and cellulose, the project could help reduce reliance on virgin raw materials and support more circular textile supply chains. The facility will be developed within Huafon’s existing industrial footprint, although its exact location, total investment and commissioning timeline have not yet been disclosed.
The collaboration also aligns with China’s focus on circular-economy development, resource recovery and lower-carbon manufacturing. The announcement expands Circ’s global industrial ambitions alongside its planned recycling facility in France, supporting the wider transition towards scalable textile waste recycling and sustainable materials production.
