Brenntag Specialties inaugurates new Food & Nutrition Innovation and Application Center in Leeds, UK

Brenntag, a global leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, has announced the start of operations at its new Innovation & Application Center in Leeds, UK.

The facility is dedicated to research and development in Food & Nutrition applications, offering comprehensive support for customer projects, including ingredient selection, formulation guidance, and application development. Brenntag’s team of experts will provide customers and suppliers with concept creation, prototype development, customised formulation support, technical solutions, and stability testing across a wide range of applications.

The new centre is a great addition to the strong network of now already 31 Food & Nutrition Innovation & Application Centres globally and 13 in the EMEA region,” said Jerzy Jasinski, Global President Nutrition and President Brenntag Specialities EMEA.

The centre will primarily focus on bakery, dairy, meat, and plant-based products, as well as ready meals, sauces and dips, beverages, and nutrition solutions for food industry manufacturers across the UK and Ireland.

The new centre is equipped with advanced machinery, including a MIWE oven, Combi Rational oven, Tuttnauer autoclave, Mainca meat grinder, Vakona meat tumbler, Stephan and Hobart mixers, Silverson dispersion units, a Carpigiani ice cream machine, GEA homogeniser, sorbetto machine, water bath for sous-vide cooking, vacuum sealer, and a canning machine. Additionally, the facility is equipped with a wide range of analytical instruments, including a texture analyser, viscometer, colorimeter, microscope, moisture analyser, and equipment for measuring Brix, pH, and water activity (aw).

The new Innovation & Application Centre for Food & Nutrition is situated in Lawnswood House at Lawnswood Business Park, located in North Leeds. The business park also houses Brenntag’s UK headquarters, and the new facility is situated adjacent to the company’s existing Personal Care Innovation & Application Center. Leeds was selected as the location for both centres because it is strategically close to Brenntag's existing operations, key suppliers, and a strong customer base in the region.

The Innovation & Application Center in Leeds joins Brenntag Specialties’ global network of 71 industry-focused centres, which collaborate by sharing best practices, expertise, and insights to deliver value-added services to the company’s business partners.
