BASF Opens New High-Performance Dispersant Line in China

BASF has officially opens its high-performance dispersant production line at the Jiangbei New Material Technology Park in Nanjing, China. The new investment enables local manufacture of advanced dispersants using Controlled Free Radical Polymerisation (CFRP) technology, enhancing global capacity alongside BASF’s site in Heerenveen, the Netherlands. This expansion strengthens supply reliability and flexibility for customers across key markets.

Dr. Stephan Kothrade, Member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE and Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the significance of the new facility: “This plant will secure a reliable local supply to support the rapidly expanding industrial coatings and automotive markets. With our advanced CFRP dispersant technology and cutting-edge production processes, we are helping customers across Asia accelerate their green transformation with products that offer a lower product carbon footprint.”

Gops Pillay, President of BASF’s Global Operating Division,  underscored the importance of collaboration: “Strong partnerships define our business. By expanding CFRP production in Nanjing, together with supply from the Heerenveen site in the Netherlands, we can respond faster and provide the flexibility that our customers need to thrive in a dynamic market.”

Since 2007, BASF’s Nanjing plant has served as a key specialty chemicals hub for China and the wider Asia-Pacific region. This latest expansion reinforces BASF’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and market leadership, coinciding with the company’s 140th anniversary in China.
