BASF Expands Sustainable Engineering Plastics Supply in China with ISCC PLUS Certification

BASF has strengthened its sustainable engineering plastics portfolio in China after its production facilities in Minhang, Shanghai, and the Zhanjiang Verbund site in Guangdong received ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certification.

The certification confirms that renewable and recycled feedstocks are used, using a mass balance approach to ensure traceability and credible sustainability claims throughout the value chain. This move strengthens BASF's ability to supply locally produced certified engineering plastics to customers in the automotive and electrical & electronics (E&E) sectors, helping them meet stricter regulatory and sustainability requirements while maintaining material performance.

The certification also reinforces supply reliability while supporting customers' low-carbon transition. This milestone extends BASF's ISCC PLUS-certified production network in Asia Pacific, building on existing certified sites in South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China.

With nearly 70% of BASF's Performance Materials sites in Asia Pacific now ISCC PLUS certified, the company continues to expand its portfolio of traceable, circular, and low-carbon material solutions, supporting regional demand for sustainable plastics and advancing its broader commitment to enabling customers' green transformation.
