BASF and Sevnce Robotics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote collaboration between the robotics and chemical industries. Both firms hope that the alliance will help to progress the chemical industry's smart and sustainable transition.
According to the MoU, BASF and Sevnce Robotics will investigate potential uses of Sevnce's robotic and intelligent inspection technologies at BASF sites. The collaboration aims to boost the chemical industry's digitalisation and automation efforts, particularly for safety-critical applications.
In parallel, both parties will enhance material innovation for essential robotic components. The collaboration, which will draw on BASF's leading expertise in performance materials such as Engineering Plastics, Thermoplastic Polyurethanes, and Polyurethane Systems, will focus on lightweight design for quadruped and humanoid robots, allowing for performance optimisation and continuous product improvement.
"We are greatly encouraged by the vibrant development of China's smart manufacturing industry," stated Dr. Jeffrey Lou, Chairman and President of BASF Greater China. "BASF is looking forward to expanding its strategic partnership with Sevnce Robotics, with a focus on digital transformation and safe production scenarios in the chemical industry." We will also promote material innovation for essential robotic components, advancing robotic systems toward increased safety, lightweight design, intelligence, and customisation while constantly broadening their application scope and market reach."
Zhu Dong, Chairman of Sevnce Robotics, commented, "We are very honoured to have formed a strategic cooperation with BASF, a global leader in the chemical sector. This signing represents a new step in our relationship. Moving forward, we will push the widespread use of Sevnce Robotics intelligent inspection solutions across BASF's global sites. We intend to investigate the integration of new materials and intelligent devices, with an emphasis on lightweight and biomimetic robot design, by using Sevnce Robotics' products and technical services and integrating them with BASF's material innovation capabilities. Together, we will enable the high-quality upgrade of industries."
