Azerbaijan Expands Stone Wool Production Capacity with New AZWOOL Facility

President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the AZWOOL mineral rock wool plant, a major addition to Azerbaijan’s construction materials industry and the latest development from Matanat-A, a company operating since 2000 with diversified operations in dry construction mixtures, gypsum-based products, lime production and machine-building.

Located on a 10-hectare site and equipped with modern technology from the United States, Germany and Türkiye, the AZWOOL facility has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million cubic metres of mineral rock wool, manufactured primarily using domestic raw materials.

The project represents a total investment of 43 million manats, supported by a 10-million-manat preferential loan from the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund and approximately 4 million manats in concessions for imported equipment through an investment promotion certificate.

The new plant, which has created 180 jobs, strengthens Azerbaijan’s ability to produce environmentally friendly mineral rock wool, a key material known for its superior thermal and acoustic insulation properties and significant contribution to energy efficiency in modern construction. With robust demand in both domestic and international markets, the plant will substantially reduce the country’s dependence on imports while enhancing its export potential to Georgia, CIS countries and the Middle East.

President Aliyev also reviewed Matanat-A’s broader product range, comprising more than 3,000 items across over 200 trademarks, exported under the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand to markets including Kazakhstan, Georgia, Iraq, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s growing role in the regional construction materials sector.
