Arkema inaugurates its new hydrogen production unit at the Jarrie site

Arkema’s Jarrie site in Isère, France, has reached an important milestone in its reorganization with the commissioning of a new hydrogen production unit based on Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) technology.

The new unit was commissioned in July 2026 and officially inaugurated on September 22, 2026. With an investment of approximately €10 million, the unit will supply hydrogen to the Jarrie site and support its production activities. The project was completed on schedule with the support of Arkema’s site teams and project partners.

Jarrie is Arkema’s largest hydrogen peroxide production facility and plays an important role in the company’s European and North American production network. The new SMR unit represents the first phase of a broader investment plan at the site, which is expected to continue through 2028.

As announced during the January 2025 reorganization, the site is refocusing on its strategic hydrogen peroxide, chlorate and perchlorate activities. The transformation of the site will continue with the commissioning of new projects in 2026 and 2027, aimed in particular at optimizing hydrogen flows and the supply of raw materials.
